OBC Cricket Pavilion, Christchurch

This stunning project set in Elmwood Park has created a functional and beautiful building that the OBC Cricket Club and the local community will cherish for decades.

To achieve functional lighting control without compromising the aesthetics of the building, we used KNX automation.  The structure of the building made running wires a challenge at times, but KNX helped us here too.  The building is smart and responds to people by turning lights on when the changing rooms are occupied.  An “all off” switch on the wall panel means there’s no chance of leaving a light or heat pump one after lock-up.   Security cameras and an alarm system protect the building and can be accessed remotely.

Designed by Athfield Architects, the pavilion was the winner of a New Zealand Institute of Architects award for Public Architecture in 2023.
